Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be wagered on in casinos all over the globe, or alternatively at home on your home computer, using a web account. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the highest combination of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the player inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.

For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the bettor has decided on which cards she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are handed out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Generally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced players are agile enough to choose the most beneficial ones each and every instance.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game give the player a chance to increase their winnings, in which case another game is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
